*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 05/01/2021
Join us for our first Black Heritage Celebration to celebrate the opening of our Summer of Sculpture exhibit, the return of ZimSculpt, a display of Zimbabwean Sculpture throughout the summer. The day is filled with events including over 20 Black-owned businesses selling their artisans, performances by Carter High School Alumni Chorus, Bishop Arts Theatre Center, St. Luke United Methodist Church and Dallas Black Dance Theatre ENCORE. At noon, enjoy a cooking demonstration by Kevin the Pie Dude. At 1pm in the Jonsson Color Garden, visitors are invited to watch the Crown Jewel Fashion Experience under the direction of Anita Hawkins and Willie Johnson. Then we end the celebration with a concert by the Don Diego Band from 2-4pm. This event is included with general admission.
