Squad STX Boys Overnight Camp | Kids Out and About Ft. Worth

Squad STX Boys Overnight Camp

Squad STX is an overnight primitive camping, hiking, and orienteering program for boys designed by U.S. Army infantry officers as an alternative or supplement to traditional summer camp and Boy Scouts. We develop strong leadership skills through squad competitions, time-tested military training methodologies and situational training exercises (STX).

OUTDOOR LEADERSHIP TRAINING FOR BOYS

Our intent is to train leadership in 'self-directed' missions requiring attention to detail. A primary method we use to reinforce leadership lessons is to rotate squad roles daily so everyone takes turns leading missions.

Campers learn basic camping, survival and leadership skills. Activities include setting up tarp shelters, navigating maps using terrain association and azimuths, night hiking, knot tying, knife handling, cooking, capture-the-flag with laser guns and constantly keeping track of personnel and gear—the finer aspects of leadership!

Perfect for either outdoor rookies with no experience, camping experts that want to try something different or JROTC cadets seeking basic overnight field experience or preparation for college ROTC. Our course is tough, but it is not a boot camp for troubled teens. Camping experience or military aspirations are not required, but motivation is!
