Dr. Billy Teel's presentation, "Protecting and Restoring Backyard Habitats" will highlight Nature's Best Hope by Douglas Tallamy to discuss the need for each of us to take action in our backyards, explain how to overcome some of the institutional constraints that limit our ability to develop backyard habitat, and illustrate some of the best species of plants to create habitat in our backyards.

The Acton Nature Center Community Lecture Series on January 8th, 2023 features Dr. Billy Teel. Dr. Teels retired from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Natural Resurces Conservation Service with more than thirty years of service as a biologist in various offices. He worked directly with the USDA programs designed to protect and resore wetlands. He served as past president of the Rio Brazos Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists and has been an active member since 2007. Dr. Teel has been involved with many activities at the Acton Nature Center and has led First Saturday Bird Walks at ANC since 2008.
