Pioneers Rest Cemetery

Pioneers Rest Cemetery is Fort Worth‘s oldest, historic cemetery. It was established in 1850 with the deaths of two of Major Ripley Arnold‘s children. Arnold was then the commander of Fort Worth. Arnold himself, General Tarrant for whom our county is named and 1500 of Fort Worth‘s earliest pioneers are interred on the park-like grounds.

Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary

Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary is a private 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing nature and people together to discover, enjoy, experience, restore and preserve our priceless environment. The goal of Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary is to connect kids with nature – with the hope to inspire within them, as well as their parents, families and teachers, a deeper appreciation for the environment. The Heard’s education department offers innovative programs designed for all age groups, interests and abilities. Programs include guided nature trails, live animal presentations, a preschool program, homeschool science classes, summer camps, adult and teacher workshops and more. Field trips, laboratory workshops, scouting programs and merit badge classes are available by reservation from September through May.
