Don't miss out on this FREE family-friendly annual event! (Please note while entrance into the parade and participating in the butterfly release is free, some vendor activities or food services may have a fee associated with it)
NOTE: The parade begins on Main Street at the corner of Hudgins & Main Street and will end at The Botanical Gardens at 411 Ball Street. The butterfly releases and main activities will happen at The Botanical Gardens. Registration for the parade begins at 8:45 a.m. and occurs at the parking lot at West Hudgins and Main Streets. There is no advance registration before the day of the event, and the event is free to enter. However, to be considered in the costume contest that happens during the parade, the child must be registered and assigned a number before the parade starts at 10 a.m.
The day begins with a Butterfly Costume Parade that starts at W. Hudgins and Main Streets. Pets are welcome to participate. The parade route is approximately 3/4 of a mile and lasts about 45 minutes depending on your walking pace. Strollers are allowed, and encouraged for the younger parade entrants that may not be ready to walk the full route on their own. There will be prizes awarded for best costume in different age groups.
After the parade, participate in butterfly crafts, butterfly exhibits, the Migration Station, interactive games, a scavenger hunt, face painting and other activities in the Botanical Gardens. Refreshments are available for purchase.
Be sure to also check out the Grapevine/Colleyville Independent School District's Art Contest submissions on display. Children from kindergarten through fifth grade submitted pieces which demonstrate their understanding of how to make the world better and more beautiful through original drawings about the monarch butterfly and the environment.
