State Fair of Texas Battle for the Blue Ribbons Cooking Contest

Four of the Fair’s most popular Creative Arts cooking contests will take place over two weekends in April and May.

This spring, we’re expanding the fun with a newly added Youth Cooking contest—moved from our Fair-time contests—and the return of our beloved Cakes, Cookies, and Pies categories.

Cake, APR. 25

Youth, APR. 26

Pie, MAY 2

Cookies, MAY 3

We hope you’ll join us for one, or all, of these spring competitions and take your shot at a coveted blue ribbon.

Contests are open to amateur home cooks of all ages, which means kids and teens can enter in all the competitoins as well as Youth Day.

Please bring your items to the Embarcadero building, connected to the Creative Arts building, at Fair Park, between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. for check-in. Judging will begin between 11:15 and 11:30 a.m. each day. Once judging ends, winners will be announced, and ribbons will be awarded. Contestants will receive their items back, or they are welcome to donate them.
