Casa Mañana School for Musical Theatre offers students the students the highest level of performing arts education. Led by industry professionals, Casa Manana's School for Musical Theatre is the premier training program for theatre arts in North Texas. Programs include: Acting, Dance, and Musical Theatre Classes for ages 4-18. In addition we offer, Musical Theatre Classes for students of all ages with special needs and abilities, Specialized Master Classes and Workshop Series and the Apprentice Program.

We offer a variety of classes at Casa Mañana:

Spotlight Classes

Learn to sing, dance, and act all at once in this musical theatre class. Show off your skills with a performance on the Casa Mañana Mainstage at our end-of-semester Showcase! This fall, explore the best of Broadway through dedicated study of songs from iconic musicals.

Acting 1

Grades 3-5: Tuesday, 5-5:55pm or Thursdays, 11:30-12:25pm
Grades 6+: Monday, 6:30-7:25pm or Thursdays, 12:30-1:25pm

The Spring Semester is designed for Ensemble Acting: Improv, Scene Work and Collaboration. Learn what it means to be an actor in a fun and supportive environment! Students will work on physical storytelling, creating stage pictures, and character development as they explore risk-taking and the power of bold choices.

Acting 2

Grades 4-6: Monday, 5:30-6:25pm
Grades 7+: Tuesday, 6-6:55pm

This class is for students with some experience and familiarity with the basics of acting. Level 2 delves deeper into fundamentals, improvisation, physicality, and more.

PLEASE NOTE: You may only take this class if you have done one of the following: Taken Acting 1 for one year at CMSMT, taken a year-long acting class elsewhere, or performed in 3 or more productions.

Acting 3, Mondays, 4:30-5:25pm

In this class, experienced students will explore more complex scenes or topics, different types of text (verse, prose, etc.), diverse styles, and more.

Acting Performance, Audition Only, Thursdays, 6-7:30pm

7th +, year long class

We’re putting on a play! In this class, students in grades 7 and up will utilize their acting skills to put on a One-Act play at the end of each semester. Students will learn how to work with their peers, create their character, and much more.

Apprentice Company Spotlight, Mondays, 5:30-8:30pm

The Apprentice Company Spotlight Class is a year-long, process-based course that focuses on both technique and performance. Our professional teaching artists will instruct students through workshops focused on acting, dance, and voice technique. Throughout the semester students will also have the chance to learn from guest instructors — industry professionals who are actively working in the field. At the end of each semester, students demonstrate their skills on the Mainstage at our Spotlight Showcase.

Enrollment in the Apprentice Company Spotlight Class also includes the opportunity to attend Masterclasses taught by visiting performers.

Apprentice Company students receive special consideration for Casa Mañana Mainstage productions. Please Note: Enrollment in the class does not guarantee casting in the annual Apprentice Program Production.

Audition Prep Class, Tuesdays, 5:30-6:25pm

September 10, October 29, and December 3

Looking to brush up on your audition skills? In this class, students will learn valuable tools for perfecting their auditions, including: how to choose appropriate material, how to speak with an accompanist, and how to stand out, and more. This class meets three times per semester.

Musical Theatre Dance, Monday's 4:30-5:25

Dance to the rhythm of the music in this dynamic course! Learn physicality, basic dance vocabulary and get an introduction to multiple musical theatre dance styles.

Advanced Dance, Thursdays, 4:30-6:00pm

In this class students will learn complex work across the floor in various styles, plus warm-up, technique, and body awareness. This professional-level class is truly advanced and is open to high school students and young adults.
