The Park & Recreation Department maintains more than 200 parks and public spaces citywide as well as providing recreational activities and educational programming that makes Fort Worth a great place to live, work and play.
Education is an important part of our mission at the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge (FWNC&R). It is our goal to educate our community about the importance of preserving our natural resources. Individuals are unique and have different learning styles; for this reason, we provide a variety of options.

The environmental education programs at River Legacy Nature Center provide ways for children to explore the natural world around them. Our Preschool classes, and many other programs all serve to provide a hands-on, minds-on connection with nature.
